Waratah Masters Time Trial champs – Sunday 7 May, Calga
The Club‘s Time Trial Championship for 2017 will be held Sunday, 7 May, at Calga. The format will be the same as previous years. This is an aged based competition over a 25 km out and back route and it’s run for us by ATTA. Registration commences at 7 am when you will need to identify yourself as a Waratah, show your licence and give your MMAS / WMAS category. You will then be given a start time, with riders starting at 1 minute intervals commencing at 8 am running through until about 10 am. Waratahs will be mixed in with riders from other clubs also completing the TT course on the day.
Entry is FREE (usually $25) for all Waratah members. Medals will be awarded for the top 3 male Waratah riders in each age group. For female Waratahs there will be medals for the top 3 riders over and under 45. The overall Club Champion will be based on an age adjusted time.
To get to Calga from the west, proceed along the M1 (F3), towards Newcastle, taking the Peats Ridge / Calga turn off. The starting area is approx 1 km from the turnoff on the RHS of the road.
The TT is known as the ‘race of truth’, so even if you’re not a regular TT rider why not come along and test your legs against the clock in the company of your club mates. It’s something very different to criteriums and you may even surprise yourself. They say the best breakaway riders are usually those that can time trial. The event will be held in all weather conditions.
