Calga TT Sunday 4 March
A sea of Waratah colours were spotted at Calga on Sunday. This ATTA report, courtesy Brad Craft, pretty much summed up the day “After an extended holiday break due to Traffic Control formalities with NSW police our year started with 68 time triallists. A few late scratchings saw the numbers a little less than usual.
The weather was a fine 25deg with some of the late starters copping a bit of a headwind on the return leg.”
Only Ian Thomas braved the long course (43.2km) with a 30.4kmh average for 1:25:22
Best of the Waratahs in the short course (25km) was the ever-improving Michael (Miguel) Troup with 38:07, closely followed by track star Paul McKay with 38:25 (and first on standard time). The also-rans were your correspondent with 38:45, Chris Mercurio 40:35 and Felix Tucci with 47:22. A great turnout and solid efforts by all riders.
The next Calga TT is on Sunday the 8th April. Hope to see as many Waratahs as possible out there. Competition for the Nowra Teams is hotting up!
