Joining the Ride
As a member of the Waratahs Masters Cycling Club (WMCC), you have access to our private WhatsApp group. This platform is where members post details about the many rides held throughout the week. It’s a convenient way to stay informed about upcoming rides, connect with fellow members, and plan your cycling activities.
However, membership is not a prerequisite to join our Saturday rides. We warmly welcome non-members to join us and experience the joy of group riding. After a few rides, we encourage you to consider becoming a member to enjoy the full benefits of the club. Non-members are required to sign a liability waiver for each ride to ensure everyone’s safety and accountability.
Safety First
The safety of our riders is our top priority. We adhere to strict safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure riding environment. Here are some key safety measures in place:
- Pre-Ride Briefing: Before each ride, a briefing is conducted to outline the route, highlight any potential hazards, and review safety protocols.
- Ride Leads: Experienced ride leads are present on every ride to guide the group and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Helmets: Wearing a helmet is mandatory for all riders.
- Bike Maintenance: Participants are encouraged to ensure their bikes are in good working condition before joining a ride.
- Signal and Communication: Riders are taught how to signal and communicate effectively within the group.
No Drop Ride
On the club rides, we pride ourselves on our “no drop” policy. This means that no rider is left behind, ensuring that everyone enjoys the ride at their own pace. However, it is essential for participants to know their limits before joining a group. If you are uncertain about your ability to keep up, we encourage you to speak with one of our ride leads or committee members. They are always available to offer guidance and help you choose the group that best matches your skill level.
